Based at our Barcelona office, Lucia Dabezies is a full-stack developer who made a move to Spain from Uruguay with the goal of meeting new people and exploring new places.

With a degree in software engineering, Lucia used to work for an Argentinian consultancy agency before moving to Europe with her boyfriend. Once on the other side of the Atlantic she came across a job ad from Prototyp that instantly caught her eye.

"The approach at Prototyp is different. It’s not like you are expected to be a machine that meets some exact criteria, but rather ’come in to the office, have fun and meet new people’. I’ve felt a very strong sense of community from day one.”

Why did you decide to work in tech?
”It fascinates me that there is something new happening all the time, the development in the field is constant. You need to be on top of learning all the time to keep up. Some of the things people are achieving are just mind-blowing, such as Machine Learning or Augmented Reality.”

Who are you outside of work?
”I really enjoy swimming, and even used to compete back in the days in Uruguay. Right now all my free-time is really spent walking around and exploring Barcelona and nearby cities. You’ll also often find me rearranging the furniture in our flat as I love interior design and changing things around. 🏊‍♂️
